Has anyone modified Eucalyptus to have more VM types besides the default five {m1.small, c1.medium, m1.large, m1.xlarge, c1.xlarge}? I want to have a special purpose one which has a different disk/CPU/RAM mix. Also, is there some way to override the "(Make sure values in each column are ordered.)" message from the Eucalyptus interface? The reason I as is that I am willing to sacrifice one VM Type in our setup, but I don't want all of the columns to be ordered. Is the ordering important for the scheduler or is it just an arbitrary restriction?

Thanks,
Dave

Re: Adding VM Types

Hello Dave,

yes, they need to be ordered because of the way the scheduler works.

Re: Adding VM Types

Is it possible to set the number of CPU's in a type to less than 1 - say .25 or .5?

No, if over provisioning is what you wish to do, you can set MAX_CORES in eucalyptus.conf on the node.

More than 5 types of VM?

Any one knows whether and how it is possible to define more than 5 types of VM?

Thanks,

So I take it that means I cannot add additional types?

You can use/modify 5 types,

You can use/modify 5 types, but cannot add more currently. We are considering this enhancement for a future release.
