A new poll is up Is the EPC useful?. Please share your thoughts on EPC on this thread!
Poll results will be posted here once the poll closes.
Thanks for participating!
The EPC was really useful. It helped a lot to get started with cloud and experimenting with it.
I just wanted to ask that is there any open source cloud management tool.Rightscale is free with the EPC,but what if we would want to use it in our college.
And thanks for the EPC :)
Cheers.
Where is the EPC itself?
Neither the poll nor the blog post link to it. It would be easier to answer the poll if the EPC was easier to find. That or add an option to the poll "I don't know where the EPC is" ;)
Hello,
you are absolutely right! We are in the process of getting newer machines to upgrade (and move) the EPC, so that's why we are asking old users about it. The EPC currently is at https://mayhem9.cs.ucsb.edu:8443 but it will change as soon as the new one is ready.
Thanks!

Hi Graziano,
I actually found the EPC by digging through the forums and applied for an account yesterday (and again today) but I haven't heard any response.
Are you accepting new users at the moment or does the application process just take a few days?
Thanks,
Everett
Hello,
we did respond I think yesterday: you should have received the confirmation email (there is a link you need to click to activate the account): perhaps it got flagged as spam?

I tried to access EPC today but some problem!
I am getting the following problem:
"The call failed on the server;
see server log for details"
and
"Internal error (2): Could not read server configuration"
What could be the reason?
Thanks
Hello,
it seems to be working for me right now: we had some power failure lately due to the weather. I wonder if the network connectivity suffered for that. Thanks for reporting and let us know if you see any other problem with the EPC.
cheers

It was flagged as spam. Got the account now.
Thanks,
Everett
The poll is now closed with the following final results
Yes 52
No 15
I have not used the EPC 79
I don't know what the EPC is 72
Thanks to all who participated and don't miss the new poll.
In my opinion, EPC is useful.. thanks for the EPC, it helped so much in getting started with cloud management. Anyway, do you know some open source cloud management tool aside from Rightscale? Thanks in advance!

As someone have said before, Id like to reiterate again that It could also be useful to give a bit of background on how groups are implemented in Eucalyptus. Apparently, every image can have two groups associated to it: 'all' and one with the name of the image up loader.
Thanks,
James

So according to the poll 79 or almost 75% does not use EPC. Maybe the mods should do something to make this site more useful. IMHO, EPC is quite useful in helping new users install Eucalyptus. Too bad I havent voted. Poll already closed.

Hello,
we may repeat the poll sometime in the future: the ECC (it changed name) is well and alive and it got new hardware which allows better performance and more concurrent users.
Thanks for your interest.

I just set it up with a file extension search script i've been using to lookup some random files i found on my system and didn't remember what they were or how to open them.
I'm wondering if there is any interest in repeating this poll. I would have liked to have voted as well, as I was having a few installation issues as well, and maybe I should have been using EPC.
Hello,
thanks for the feedback! I passed the suggestion to the documentation team.
cheers
